Seeking chiropractic care while preparing for pregnancy, and especially during pregnancy, is the best thing you can do for your body and your unborn child. Being under care can offset some of the physical and emotional traumas, as well as nutritional stresses. In the later weeks of pregnancy, it’s also important to make sure ligaments are as balanced as possible. This allows the baby to get into the optimum position so the labor and delivery will be easier.
Chiropractic care is equally important for children as they grow. The birth process can be challenging and even if you had an uneventful labor the new born still needs to be checked for misalignments as soon as possible after birth to allow for proper nerve function. Falls are a common part of being a child and, when repeated frequently can lay down dysfunctional patterns in the nervous system, actually beginning the process of early nerve system distress. These early misalignments, when left untreated, can act to weaken the child’s health and manifest over time as pain, symptoms, conditions, or a general lack of vitality.

Do you specialize in anything?
Prenatal and Pediatric chiropractic care are two areas we specialize in as well as care for the whole family.
According to recent studies, Chiropractic care may result in easier pregnancy including increased comfort during the third trimester and delivery, and reduced need for pain medications. Other benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy include: A more comfortable pregnancy and delivery. A 50% reduced need for analgesics (pain medication). A 24% – 39% faster than average labor time.
84% of women report relief of back pain during pregnancy. Significantly less likelihood of back labor (contractions and sharp pain felt in the lower back during labor). Significantly reduced utilization of epidurals, forceps, vacuum extraction, episiotomies, and Cesarean sections. Reduced likelihood of postpartum depression.
Dr. Patti is certified in the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic adjustment for pregnant mothers. Working to correct sacral subluxations, this technique balances pelvic muscles and ligaments in the woman’s pelvis, removes constraint and allows the baby to get into the best possible position for birth. Because of its ability to facilitate easier, safer deliveries for both the mother and baby, many birth care providers are actively seeking Doctors of Chiropractic with the skills in this technique.
The birth process is often when the first injury to the nervous system occurs and it is so important to have infants evaluated so they form healthy nerve system patterns and have the greatest potential to express abundant health and vitality. Chiropractic care has been effective in helping babies with colic, torticollis, reflux, breastfeeding difficulties, and sleep issues. One of the most challenging experiences of early motherhood is establishing a successful breastfeeding relationship. Our doctors, work with both mom and baby to ensure this relationship gets off to the right start.
Children have many physical, mental, and chemical stresses today from long hours at school, demanding sports participation, lack of sleep, improper diet, and highly scheduled lives that it’s important to have their spine and nerve system checked on a regular basis to be sure it’s keeping up with the child’s busy life. Our doctors are equipped to help children who experience ADD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, learning and behavioral difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Ultimately, a parent should feel comfortable that the person who they are handing their child over to is trained, experienced and competent in adjusting children of all ages.
